Missed BoF #57 on Node.js? We have some video…

by michelle on August 12, 2015

Thank you to everyone who attended our BoF on Node.js a few weeks ago. We were lucky to be able to get some video of the whole session. Please take a moment to watch.

Node.js is an asynchronous event driven framework for JavaScript and its potential with WebSockets was demonstrated here by Jay Patel from Coding Dojo. The WebSocket JavaScript interface is a full-duplex single socket connection over which messages can be sent between client and server. Jay also discussed Socket.IO which enables real-time bidirectional event–based communication, which is focused on reliability and speed. Socket.IO is ideal for applications such as chat rooms, email, and event-based notifications. For this BoF, Jay explained why Node.js is used, how to learn Node.js, challenges, and concerns when using this hot framework.

A special thanks to our speaker, Jay Patel, for taking the time to educate us on this great JavaScript framework!
