Description: | The QA Engineer is responsible for feature, function and system testing of network security appliance functionality on a VLAN-aware Ethernet switch. This position is mainly manual testing from written test plans. Some tests involve tools such as Ixia, Smartbits, or Perl scripts.
Primary Responsibilities (deliverables or specific accomplishments desired):
(1) Execute test plans for feature, function, system and performance tests for software application
(2) Work closely with development to analyze problems and generate problem reports
(3) Full involvement in product acceptance phases including alpha and beta testing
(4) Help set-up test infrastructure and facilities including automation and regression test beds
(5) Track and trend system and software quality through the release cycle |
Qualifications: | 5-10 years of experience is preferred
Understanding of LAN/WAN network technologies (TCP/IP, IPX, Ethernet, etc)
Understanding of L2 (MAC, VLANs, ethereal/tcpdump)
Experience with CLI or SNMP testing
Basic knowledge and understanding authentication services such as LDAP and RADIUS
Basic knowledge and understanding of IP address assignment and routing
Experience with WLAN 802.1 la, 802.11 b, 802.1, EAP helpful
Knowledge and understanding of servers and operating systems including Linux, Mac and Windows
Direct knowledge and understanding of test case execution, different test types, automation, test tracking and status reporting
Familiarity and base knowledge of Unix scripting, Perl, Tcl/Tk automation and general automation concepts
Experience with the different phases of a hardware software release cycle
Ability to isolate problems and get to root cause
