Job Description Job Summary:



�The purpose of this position is to manage all IT change and configuration management functions, ensuring that established methods and procedures are used for efficient and prompt handling of all changes in order to minimize the impact upon service quality and to improve the day-to-day operations of the organization. The position is responsible for running CM meetings; ensuring change information is effectively communicated, coordinating changes with all affected parties, and managing change release and deployment activities. Under general supervision, coordinates, monitors, and facilitates the systems change and configuration management process.



Essential Functions:



�Act as primary liaison for all CM activities in Sunnyvale while working in conjunction with the global CM team.

�Create and administer change and configuration management procedures; recommend adjustments to the change system over time, as appropriate.

�Conducts initial review of request for documentation; facilitate proper prioritization, approvals, compliance with standards, and completeness.

�Conduct software build and release activities.

�Manage Software Source Control System (CVS, VSS, CMS, PVCS)

�Monitor compliance to existing CM processes; ensure correct approval process is followed for both standard and emergency changes.

�Evaluates and recommends methods and tools for streamlining and improving the processes; ensure set-up and proper configuration of change management tools.

�Updates and ensures the on-going data integrity of the CM database, processes, and maintains process documentation.

�Coordinates, convenes, and facilitates change control board (CCB) meetings; records decisions made during CCB; maintains a schedule of approved and tentative system changes.

�Acts as the primary point of reference for questions, problems, suggestions, and complaints about the change management system and process; Assembles and maintains change and problem history records; prepares statistics and trend reports for use in review of the change management process.

�Resolves change management scheduling conflicts and deviations according to established practices, and obtain advice when precedents are unclear or unavailable.

�Analyze change records to determine any trends or apparent problems that occur and suggesting improvements.

�Includes facilitation of organizational change while providing expertise on technical, functional, or business topics. Focus is on enterprise-wide functions and processes, as opposed to specific systems.

�Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

�Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

�Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.

�Ability to quickly comprehend new technologies and techniques and apply them

Qualifications:

Requirements Qualifications: �Written and oral fluency in English with presentation skills. �Written and oral fluency in Japanese preferred. �Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related field �Minimum 4 years experience in IT �Software Code Management experience using tools such as CVS, VSS, or CMS. �Software Build Management experience using tools such as MAKE, ANT, or Scripting. �Knowledge of the theory and principles of project management and IT operations management �Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as actively participate in a team environment. �Detailed oriented and demonstrated ability to think strategically as well as tactically. �Strong analytical, creative problem solving, and planning skills to achieve results. �Ability to effectively influence and negotiate with personnel at various organizational levels. �History of success working in fast-paced environment and ability to handle multiple concurrent initiatives. �Ability to drive results within tight timeframes. Must be able to deliver results and negotiate changes while working with a cross functional team. �Proven ability driving detailed system level analysis. �Demonstrated ability to transform high-level initiatives into functional operational practices.
